James Donovan IV, MBA, SHRM-SCP has a diverse work experience across various industries. James started their career as a Student Worker at Carthage College Admissions Office, where they assisted with promotional projects and performed clerical duties. James then worked as a Caterer at Sodexo, where they planned and created food menus and handled communications between student groups and the company.
After that, they interned at Delta Upsilon International Fraternity Headquarters, organizing a conference for 700 undergraduate students and acting as the main contact for the event. James also served as a Personal Assistant to the Director of Scholarship and Admission Events at Carthage College, where they helped organize events and manage on-site organization. Additionally, James worked as a Resident Assistant, providing advising and programming for undergraduate students.
James transitioned into the accounting field, starting as an Office Assistant/Bookkeeper at Imanami Corporation, responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and HR duties. James then worked as an Accounting Team Lead at Organic Spices, Inc., where they managed the monthly close, maintained accounting ledgers, and developed pricing structures.
Continuing in accounting, James joined ACG Certified Public Accountants as a Staff Accountant, responsible for a diverse client portfolio and advising on HR/accounting policies. James later moved up to the role of Senior Staff Accountant, overseeing team training and building expertise, reviewing compilations and intercompany accounting, and managing department billing and client engagements.
From there, James joined Hutto Holdings as an Accounting Controller, where they owned the monthly and quarterly close processes for six entities, presented results to leadership and investors, and performed revenue and variance analysis. Currently, they are employed as an Accountant at Maximum Games.
Throughout their career, James has demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, variance analysis, team management, budgeting, forecasting, and HR/accounting policies. James holds an MBA degree and is SHRM-SCP certified.
James Donovan IV, MBA, SHRM-SCP, received their Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Public Relations from Carthage College, where they attended from 2008 to 2011. James went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a concentration in Entrepreneurship Management from Saint Mary's College of California, completing their studies from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, they obtained a Certificate of KAIST Business Program in International Business/Trade/Commerce from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Additionally, James has obtained certifications including SHRM - SCP from SHRM in May 2017, and Intuit QuickBooks Certified from Intuit Software in March 2013.
