Liang Shao

Mobile Developer at Maximizer

Liang Shao has extensive work experience in various roles related to mobile development, programming, and web design. In 2001, they worked as a Web and Graphics Designer at Royal LePage Westside. From 2003 to 2009, they worked as a Portrait Artist at VancouverPortrait.com, specializing in oil paintings and charcoal/pastel drawings.

Starting in 2004, Liang Shao began working at UBC Arts ISIT as a Contract Programmer Analyst. Liang then transitioned to UBC Faculty of Arts IT, where they worked as a Programmer Analyst, developing and customizing web applications that enhanced teaching and learning experiences. During their time there, they developed the FileShare Application, integrating a PHP-based platform with Shibboleth authentication for sharing large files within campus groups, and collaborated with the New Media Consortium and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art on the design of the Pachyderm Media Authoring Tool.

In 2010, Liang Shao started freelancing as an iOS and Android app developer. Liang designed and developed educational and fun apps, such as the Picture Talk app, which allows parents to create interactive presentations for children. Liang continued this freelance work until 2020.

In 2012, Liang Shao joined UBC IT Web Services as a Senior Programmer Analyst. Liang'sresponsibilities included creating and maintaining the iOS and Android UBC mobile app, integrating it with various APIs and services such as Google Maps, TransLink, BlackBoard, and social media networks. Liang also enhanced the app with campus information on tours, courses, events, dining, and people directory. Additionally, they analyzed app activity to optimize the mobile strategy, customized app features for different audiences, and expanded the mobile solution to include virtual tours and transit.

Most recently, Liang Shao worked as a Mobile Developer at Maximizer Software, Inc. starting in 2018.

Liang Shao pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Jinan University between 1995 and 1998. Following that, from 1999 to 2001, they attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Diploma in Computer Systems Technology.
