Andrey Ivankin

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer at Mattiq

Andrey Ivankin has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Andrey started their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where they focused on understanding structure-function relationships in natural peptides and peptidomimetics with antimicrobial activity. Andrey then moved on to work as a Senior Research Associate at the same institution, where they explored the mechanisms of cell invasion by the HIV virus and identified new design principles for anti-AIDS small molecule therapeutics.

After that, Andrey joined Northeastern University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they worked on nanopore technology for high-throughput screening of epigenetic and sequence modifications of chromatin. Andrey also experimented with fluorescence-based signal readout in nanopores for biosensing and DNA sequencing.

Following their time at Northeastern University, Andrey worked as an Independent Developer at Weber Shandwick, where they utilized their skills in scientific communication, data analytics, and visualization to create interactive dashboards for Fortune 500 companies.

Andrey then joined the International Institute for Nanotechnology at Northwestern University as an R&D Engineer, where they developed cutting-edge nanofabrication technologies. These tools are now widely used by Northwestern researchers for cell assays and rapid discovery of nanomaterials with unique properties.

Andrey's entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found two companies. Andrey was the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at TERA-print LLC, where they led a team in building transformative nanofabrication tools. One of these tools received recognition as the best new product in the Life Sciences category by the SPIE organization.

Currently, Andrey is serving as a Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Mattiq, a materials design and development company focused on decarbonization and sustainable production of critical chemicals and fuels. Mattiq combines materials science and artificial intelligence to accelerate the exploration and discovery of new materials and processes.

Throughout their career, Andrey has demonstrated expertise in materials science, nanofabrication, scientific communication, and technology development.

Andrey Ivankin pursued their education in the field of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Andrey obtained a PhD degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, where they studied in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering from 2005 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies in Chemical Physics at Novosibirsk State University (NSU) from 2000 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree.
