Friede Andersen has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Friede began their career as a PHD student at NIFES in 1992, where they worked until 1997. Following their time at NIFES, they joined the University of Stavanger as a Førsteamanuensis from 1998 to 1999. Friede then moved on to The Directorate of Fisheries in Norway, where they served as an Advisor/Head of Section from 1999 to 2003. In 2003, they worked as a Prosjektleder at Mattilsynet/Norwegian Food Safety Authority for a period of 11 months. Ultimately, Friede became the Head of Section at Mattilsynet in 2004, and continues to hold this position.
Friede Andersen obtained their PhD in Biology from the University of Bergen (UiB) between 1983 and 1997.
