Jeff Pruyne has a diverse background with experience in various scientific roles. Jeff started their career as a Research Assistant at Trinity College-Hartford, where they conducted surface tension experiments and analyzed data to study surface propensities and reactivities of halogenated compounds. Jeff also worked as a Logistics Coordinator and Staff member, managing a team and developing operating procedures for a backpacking trip.
Jeff then pursued a graduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, where they worked as a Graduate Student Instructor and Researcher. As an instructor, they created lesson plans and taught lab and discussion sections on general chemistry and organic chemistry. As a researcher, they used ultrafast time resolved spectroscopy to study electron dynamics in DNA analog systems, involving the preparation and maintenance of experimental apparatus and data analysis using MATLAB and Arduino software.
Following their time at Berkeley, Jeff joined Kaleido Biosciences as a Research Associate and contributed to their research projects. Jeff then worked at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as a Research Associate II in the Metabolomics Group. In this role, they focused on metabolite identification, quantitation, and data quality control, as well as sample preparation, instrument operation, data analysis, and software development for data analysis.
Most recently, Jeff joined Matterworks as a Scientist. Here, they developed an analytical method and trained a machine learning model with metabolites from different chemical classes. Jeff also designed and executed experiments with laboratory automation to generate thousands of samples and created a quality control workflow.
Overall, Jeff Pruyne's work experience showcases their expertise in scientific research, data analysis, instrumental techniques, teaching, and project management.
Jeff Pruyne earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from Trinity College-Hartford in the years 2011 to 2015. Subsequently, they attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 2015 to 2016, where they obtained a Master's degree in Chemistry.
