Thijs Herwig has a diverse work experience. Thijs started their career at Webhelp Nederland in 2010 as a Telemarketeer, where they worked for 2.5 years. Thijs then joined Start People in 2013, holding multiple roles until 2015. Following that, Thijs took a break to travel through Asia for 9 months. In 2018, they interned at Tata Steel in Europe in the Shutdown Management department for several months. In 2017, Thijs worked as a Student Assistant at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen until 2019. Since then, they have been working at Matrixian Group, first as a Data Transformer in 2019, then as a Logistics Project Lead from 2019 to 2022. Thijs later transitioned to Product Owner roles, initially in Urban Intelligence from 2020 to 2022 and currently as a Product Owner in Location Intelligence from 2021.

Thijs Herwig completed their education in a chronological manner. Starting in 2009, they attended H N Werkman College voor Ath Havo en Mavo, where they obtained their VWO OUD (N+T EN N+G) degree in an unspecified year. Afterward, they attended Hanzehogeschool Groningen / Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen from 2009 to 2011, where they earned a B Bouwkunde Propaedeutic Certificate in Architecture and Constructive Design.

Later, from 2011 to 2015, Thijs attended the University of Groningen and completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Industrieel management/Industrial engineering and management. Thijs further pursued their education at the same institution, the University of Groningen, from 2016 to 2019, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Engineering with a focus on Industrial engineering and management.

Furthermore, Thijs Herwig has additional certifications. In 2015, they earned a Bachelor Industrial Engineering Management certification from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Thijs then obtained a Master Industrial Engineering and Management certification from the University of Groningen in June 2019.
