Sarah Sekula has over 19 years of work experience, beginning with their role as an Account Executive at CBR Public Relations in 2000. Sarah then moved on to the Knight Agency in 2004, where they were the Senior Writer and PR Director. In 2009, they began working as a freelance journalist and on-camera host/videographer for USA TODAY, covering topics such as international singer/songwriter Jack Johnson's eco sensibilities, growing up wild in Alaska, and learning to climb trees as an adult. In 2012, they started working as a freelance journalist and on-camera host/videographer for CNN, where they were the only journalist allowed to tour and report on Universal's Volcano Bay before it was open. Sarah also worked as a Writer and Videographer/Photographer for Matador Network and Visit Orlando. In 2014, they began working as a freelance journalist and photographer for STUDIO GANNETT, and in 2016 they were a Writer for ESPN, covering adventure, nutrition, workouts, gear and big-name athletes. Most recently, they have been a Writer and Photographer for Lonely Planet since 2019.
Sarah Sekula attended Stanton College Preparatory School from 1993 to 1996. Sarah then went on to pursue a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Central Florida, where they also obtained a minor in English Writing, graduating in 2000. In 2013, Sarah obtained a certification from PADI as an open-water certified diver.
