Richard Henderson serves as the Chief Real Estate Officer at MBTA since July 2019, leading property redevelopment and acquisition for the second-largest landowner in Massachusetts. Prior to this role, Richard held the position of EVP Real Estate at MassDevelopment from 2004 to July 2019, where leadership of the real estate division encompassed planning, development, engineering, and asset management across various projects in Massachusetts. Richard's career also includes experience as the Director of Planning and Development at MassPort (1995-2004), focusing on waterfront property development through public-private partnerships, and serving as Assistant Secretary of Economic Affairs for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (1992-1994), directing the development of a comprehensive economic strategy. Earlier, Richard was the Director of Policy Planning at the Boston Redevelopment Authority (1991-1992). Richard holds a BA in History from Williams College and an M Phil in Urban Design & Regional Planning from The University of Edinburgh.
