Jakub Macek is an accomplished Associate Professor at Masaryk University, where engagement in researching media audiences and teaching media studies has been a significant focus since September 2008. Macek has also served as Head of the Department of Media Studies and Journalism and held various academic positions within the same department, including Assistant Professor and Teaching Assistant. Macek's editorial experience includes a tenure as Editor for the academic journal Czech and Slovak Media Studies. Additionally, Macek has contributed to international academia as a Visiting Scholar at both Penn State University and the University of Vienna. Prior experience includes teaching sociology at VÅ B - Technical University Ostrava and a background in journalism and public relations with Metropolislive and Forum 2000 Foundation. Macek holds a Ph.D. in Sociology with a focus on media studies and journalism from Masaryk University.
