Patrick Houston

Patrick Houston has worked in the IT industry since 1998. Patrick began their career at Digital as a Team Lead. In 2003, they joined Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences Information Technology as a Systems Administrator. In this role, they were responsible for consolidating and simplifying the FAS Micro server environment, collapsing multiple file servers onto a single Windows 2003 cluster server, and migrating outdated Novell servers into the Windows environment. Patrick also documented the FAS NT/MAC server environment. In 2005, they were promoted to IT Systems Manager and developed a 12-18 month Technical Road map for FAS Windows Systems Projects. Patrick also managed a team of 5 Systems Administrators. In 2009, they joined Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (Daymark) as Global Lead for Informatics NAS. In this role, they were responsible for 20+ PB of Isilon Storage and drove the globalization effort for Informatics Storage, developing standards for Isilon across 5 Major Global sites. Patrick also led a global effort to upgrade Isilon Environment from OneFS 6.5. In 2016, they joined Wayfair as Senior Storage Administrator. In this role, they were responsible for the Isilon environment globally, redesigned Isilon at the primary site and split the existing single cluster into dedicated Big data and General Purpose NAS clusters, and led a data center migration for Isilon and NAS consolidation from VNX and Nasuni to Isilon. In 2019, they joined Markley as Director of Engineering.

Patrick Houston obtained a BA(Hons) in English & Italian from Trinity College Dublin between 1990 and 1994. Patrick also holds an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS), which they obtained in March 2022.
