Jaouad Bahaji began their work experience in 1995 as a Project Manager at JICA Intl in Morocco. Jaouad then worked at USAID/Morocco starting in 1997, where they served as the Directeur de Projets in Agriculture, Water, and Environment until 2011. After that, Bahaji joined the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Morocco as the Director of the Directorate of Research Training and Education in February 2011 up to the present day.

Jaouad Bahaji has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philosophy of Language/Discourse Analysis from the University Mohamed V - Rabat. Prior to this, Bahaji obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Linguistics from the University Moulay Ismael Meknes.
