Olivia Bellis has a diverse work experience in the fields of mapping, software development, and archaeology. Olivia currently works at Map Your Show as a Mapping Interactive Developer, where they continue their long-term development work on various JavaScript mapping applications and provides AWS support. Prior to that, they worked as a GIS Developer at Addison Group, subcontracted with the USDA, where they implemented Python and JavaScript solutions using the Enterprise ESRI stack.
In 2020, Olivia worked briefly as an Archaeologist at Blekinge museum, conducting fieldwork to record graves and creating 3D models from processed photos. Olivia also worked on an Iron Age artifact.
Between 2018 and 2020, Olivia worked as a Freelance Software Developer at Map Your Show, assisting with projects and transferring their expert knowledge to the team while studying abroad.
From 2016 to 2018, Olivia worked full-time as a Mapping & Interactive Developer at Map Your Show, where they developed JavaScript applications using Mapbox, OpenLayers, OGR2OGR, and AWS.
In 2015, they worked as a GIS Technician through Gus Perdikakis Associates Inc at Duke Energy, performing data analysis, producing maps, and manipulating data using SQL and Python. Prior to that, they were a Distribution Design/GIS Co-Op at Duke Energy, where they assisted GIS Analysts and worked on web mapping projects using Esri Javascript API and leaflet web map API.
In 2013, Olivia held multiple positions, including GIS Technician at Environment & Archaeology, LLC, where they produced maps for reports, and Junior Field Technician at Gray & Pape, Inc., where they conducted fieldwork in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Olivia also worked as a GIS Research Assistant at Northern Kentucky University, assisting with data collection and preparation for mapping efforts, and as a Museum Assistant at the Museum of Anthropology, organizing and cataloging data and editing photographs.
Olivia Bellis earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Anthropology from Northern Kentucky University, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. In May 2013, they obtained a Certificate in Geographical Information Systems from the same institution. Following their undergraduate studies, Olivia pursued Software Development/Computer Science at Northern Kentucky University from 2014 to 2015, although they did not obtain a degree in that field. Olivia then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Archaeology at Lund University from 2018 to 2020. In December 2020, Olivia obtained a certification as a Certified SAFe 5 Practitioner from Scaled Agile, Inc.
