Saad Dara

CEO and Co-Founder at Mangrove Lithium

Saad Dara began their work experience in 2010 as a Master's Research Assistant at The University of British Columbia, where they focused on developing a novel redox fuel and conducted economic modeling for market analysis. From 2013 to 2020, they worked as a PhD Research Assistant at the same university, specializing in applied electrochemistry and focusing on the conversion of carbon dioxide and desalination of waste-water to chemicals and reusable water. During this time, they co-founded Mangrove Water Technologies and raised $1M in grant funding. Saad also successfully scaled up technology and has a patent pending. In 2017, Saad Dara became the CEO and Co-Founder of Mangrove Lithium, a Vancouver-based company that developed a breakthrough platform for cost-effective lithium hydroxide production. The platform technology is also being used for waste brine conversion and desalinated water production.

Saad Dara has a solid educational background in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Saad began their academic journey in 2005 at The University of British Columbia, where they completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2010. This laid the foundation for their further studies, and they went on to pursue a Master's of Applied Science degree in the same field at the same institution from 2010 to 2012. Seeking to deepen their expertise, Saad continued their education at The University of British Columbia and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from 2013 to 2020. Overall, Saad Dara has dedicated many years to honing their skills and knowledge within the field of Chemical and Biological Engineering, progressing from a Bachelor's degree to a Master's degree and eventually attaining a PhD.
