Carlos A. Chacón-Martínez

CEO & Co-Founder at Mane Biotech

Carlos A. Chacón-Martínez has held various positions in the scientific and business fields since 2006. In 2006, they obtained their M.Sc. from Ghent University, where they designed and developed small antibody fragments to target HER2 over-expressing mammary tumors. From 2007 to 2013, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, where they were in charge of planning and conducting research in the area of skin cancer and hair follicle stem cells. In 2019, they became a BE3 Cohort Member at Entrepreneur First, an international Talent Investor which supports individuals to build technology companies. Carlos A. is also the CEO & Co-Founder of Mane Biotech, a venture-funded startup making hair loss prevention and regrowth possible using regenerative medicine.

Carlos A. Chacón-Martínez obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cell Biology and Biochemistry from Technische Universität Dresden in 2012. Prior to this, they earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Molecular Biotechnology from Ghent University in 2007. Carlos also obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Microbiology from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 2003. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications, including a BD FACS ARIA training from BD in 2014, and a Laboratory Animals. FELASA B certification from FELASA (Federation for Laboratory Animal Science Associations) in 2014.
