Dr Gunnar Stiesch has been Chief Technology Officer at MAN Energy Solutions SE since 1 January 2023, with responsibility for Research and Development.
Dr Gunnar Stiesch was born in Hanover in 1970 and is married with two children. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the USA and completed his doctorate on the modelling and simulation of combustion engines at Leibniz University in Hanover from 1995 to 2002, where he also qualified as a university lecturer. He has held an external professorship at Leibniz University since 2005.
Before he joined MAN Energy Solutions (then: MAN Diesel & Turbo) in 2008, Dr Gunnar Stiesch held various positions in engine design and testing at MTU Friedrichshafen.
After eight years as Head of Advanced Engineering Four-Stroke & Exhaust Aftertreatment at MAN Energy Solutions, he assumed overall responsibility for engine development at the company in 2017 as Head of Engineering Engines. Here he was responsible for the development of both four-stroke engines in Augsburg and two-stroke engines in Copenhagen until his appointment to the Executive Board.
