Saranel Benjamin currently serves as Co-Executive Director at Mama Cash since January 2023. From September 2019 to January 2023, Saranel was Head of Partnerships in the Impact Division at Oxfam, focusing on anti-racism and feminist partnerships. Previously, Saranel held roles such as Director of Women's Rights and Gender Justice at the Gender and Development Network, Interim Head of Research and Programmes Policy at ActionAid, and Director of International Programmes at War on Want. Saranel’s earlier experience includes Senior International Programme Officer at the Development Planning Unit, where research on women workers in the South was conducted. Additional experience includes consultancy work and program management at various organizations focused on poverty and civil society advocacy. Saranel holds a PhD in Social Exclusion, Poverty, and Inequality from UCL and has degrees in International Politics and Law and Political Science from the University of South Africa and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, respectively.
