Stephen E. Thorsett is the current President at Willamette University. Stephen was previously the Dean of Physical and Biological Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz from September 1999 to June 2011. Prior to that, they were an Assistant Professor of Physics at Princeton University from August 1994 to August 1999. Stephen started their career as a Millikan Research Fellow in Physics at the California Institute of Technology from September 1991 to August 1994.

Stephen E. Thorsett received their PhD in Physics from Princeton University, their BA in Mathematics from Carleton College, and they studied Mathematics at the University of Oxford. Stephen also attended South Salem High.
