Melissa Hodder is a Project Management Executive at Makematic. Melissa has over two years of experience working in the digital and online education sector, managing multiple projects from kick-off to delivery. Melissa is responsible for defining project scope, goals, deliverables and dependencies throughout the project, as well as preparing and working with project timelines. Melissa is constantly ensuring milestones are met through the project and that solutions are put in place should there be delays. Melissa also keeps clients informed throughout projects and manages expectations.
Prior to joining Makematic, Melissa was a Project Manager at 2U where they were responsible for identifying risks upfront and working alongside internal and external stakeholders to manage these. Melissa also reported to and worked with the Lead Project Manager on project updates and concerns or problems. Additionally, Melissa managed expectations and worked closely with Subject Matter Experts as well as Faculty Professors/Deans with top Universities world wide.
In their current role, Melissa leads, manages and motivates development teams as they work to create both local and international online education courses. Melissa also drafts and updates project documents including budgets, project charters, project plans, communications plans and resource reports. Furthermore, they run DSUs (Daily Stand Ups) and weekly status meetings with project teams in order to measure and track project progress internally.
Melissa is known for their creative problem-solving, scenario planning and change management skills. Melissa also has a strong ability to build relationships with university stakeholders that aid in solidifying partnerships. Melissa is a valuable member of the Makematic team and contributes to the overall success and growth of the Project Management team through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Melissa Hodder has a post-graduate certificate in education from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. Melissa also has an advanced project management short course from the University of Cape Town. In addition, they have a bachelor's degree in social science (economics and marketing) from UKZN Pietermaritzburg. Finally, they graduated from Carter High School.
They work with Catherine Davies - Co-Founder & CCO, Brenda Barr - Director of Education & Research, and Michelle Holt - Director of Content Operations. Melissa Hodder reports to Mark Nagurski, Co-Founder & CEO.
