Laurent Lafon serves as the Président de la Commission de la Culture, de l'Education, de la Communication et du Sport and is a Sénateur du Val-de-Marne at the Sénat since September 2017. Concurrently, Laurent holds the position of Maire honoraire at the Mairie de Vincennes since July 2002. In regional governance, Laurent is the Président du groupe UDI centristes et indépendants at the Métropole du Grand Paris and a member of the Commission des Finances for Paris Est Marne&Bois, both roles initiated in January 2016. Laurent joined the boards of directors for the Cannes Film Festival and France Télévisions in October 2020. Laurent has also been an associate professor at Cnam, focusing on local government management and urban planning, from 2002 until October 2023. Prior experience includes serving as Président du groupe UDI in the Région Île-de-France from 2004 to 2017. Laurent Lafon holds a Diplome from Sciences Po Paris in Economics and Finance (1989) and a Licence in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from Université Paris Nanterre (1985).
