Jean Gaumy has been a member of the Institut de France - Académie des Beaux Arts since 2016 and has been affiliated with Magnum Photos as a member photographer since 1977. Previously, Jean worked as a photojournalist for Gamma Photography Agency from 1973 to 1977, and as a writer and photographer for Journal Paris-Normandie Rouen between 1970 and 1973 during higher education studies at Université de Rouen. Notably, Jean developed skills alongside distinguished editors such as Marianne Evrard and François Vicaire.
