Paul Groome has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Paul started their career as an Engineer at GEC Avionics in 1979. Paul then worked as a Senior ATE Applications Engineer at Cossor Electronics, where they were responsible for ASIC and SMT test methods. Later, Paul joined Motorola Mobile Devices as a Principle Engineer, where they managed projects related to analogue mobile phones.
In 1991, Paul joined GenRad as an Applications Engineer, providing technical support for various GenRad products. Paul also played a significant role in winning major benchmarks and designing software for Digital Test. At GenRad, they took on several managerial roles, including Sales Manager, Product Manager - ICT, and General Manager of the Imaging Solutions group.
After GenRad's merger with Teradyne in 2002, Paul became the Business Unit Manager of the Automated X-Ray Group, where they introduced innovative AXI platforms. Paul then moved on to Digitaltest as the Vice President, and finally, they are currently the Director of Sales and Support at Machine Vision Products since 2008. In this role, they oversee sales and support for the Americas and provides direction for new product development and customer requirements.
Paul Groome completed an apprenticeship in Electronics at Marconi from 1979 to 1981, receiving an Apprenticeship Completion Certificate. Following this, from 1980 to 1984, they attended the University of Hertfordshire, where they obtained a TEC5 degree in Electronics Engineering.
