Rylan MacCay has a diverse work experience starting with an internship at Traylor Brothers Inc., where they gained project management experience in areas such as jobsite safety, estimating, formwork design, documentation, and environmental regulations. Rylan then moved on to an internship at Turner Construction, where they worked on the construction of a LEED Platinum office building. During this time, they assisted with subcontractor management, punch-list work, and LEED documentation and certification.
After completing their internships, Rylan joined Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity as the Chapter Treasurer, managing the chapter's finances and implementing an annual budget. Rylan later became the Chapter President, overseeing chapter operations and working on rebuilding the chapter's Board of Directors. Rylan also developed and implemented a new scholarship program.
Rylan then joined MacDonald-Miller as a Project Manager, where they managed the U240 Capitol Hill Station project, which included preconstruction services, HVAC installation, tunnel ventilation, plumbing, and building controls. Rylan also piloted the use of Microsoft Surface tablets to streamline paperwork processes in the field. Subsequently, they transitioned to the role of Detailing Department and Shop Manager, where they managed the detailing department and oversaw sheet metal fabrication. Rylan facilitated communication, scheduled resources, defined budgets, and continually improved processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
Following this, Rylan took on the position of Operations Manager at MacDonald-Miller, overseeing the digital transformation of the sheet metal manufacturing, field installation, logistics, and asset management operations. Rylan led major facility expansions and leveraged new technologies and production planning software to double throughput year over year while meeting quality and quantity goals.
Currently, Rylan holds the role of Senior Director of Information Technology at MacDonald-Miller, leading the development and implementation of IT strategies, policies, and procedures to support business operations. Rylan manages a team of IT professionals and ensures the maintenance and enhancement of information systems and technologies. Rylan collaborates with cross-functional teams to align business operations with IT systems.
Rylan MacCay began their education in 2003, attending Washington State University - College of Business and Economics and earning a Bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship in 2009. Additionally, during the same period, they also attended Washington State University and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management. Following their formal education, Rylan pursued further certifications. In 2010, they became OSHA 30 Certified through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Rylan then obtained the title of Certified Level 1 Project Manager from the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington in April 2011 and achieved Certified Level 2 Project Manager status from the same institution in June 2012.
