Since graduating from Lynden Christian in 1994, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Western Washington University) and Master of Education (Grand Valley State University), both with a major in English – Secondary Education. I also earned my National Board Certification.
Prior to joining the LC staff, God called me to serve as a teacher and leader in public schools. I taught 8th grade language arts in Michigan for three years. I then worked in the Ferndale School District for 17 years, primarily teaching English at Windward High School as well as serving for one year as Coordinator for Ferndale Family Connections, a program for homeschool families.
I live with my husband (also LC Class of ‘94), and two daughters (both LC students) on five acres in the country. I enjoy traveling, photography, scrapbooking, reading, playing piano, watching sports, and spending time with family. We attend Bellingham Christ the King Church.
As an English teacher, I love words. Words matter. Words are powerful. In addition to delighting in the masterful ways that authors and speakers use words to share stories, convey ideas, and provoke thought, it is my deep hope that we each understand the power of our own words and use them to build others up instead of tear them down.
