Dcn. Emily Orner is a Community Engagement Specialist at Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area since December 2021, where responsibilities include connecting local communities with the needs of newly arrived immigrants. Previously, Dcn. Orner served as a Case Manager, supporting newly arrived refugees in accessing necessary benefits and resources for self-sufficiency. From June 2020 to November 2021, Dcn. Orner worked as an Operations Coordinator at Casa Marianella, focusing on educating community members about immigration and building connections with faith organizations for immigration ministry. Dcn. Orner holds a Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership with a focus on Social Justice (Immigration) from United Lutheran Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from Susquehanna University.
