Mary Joy has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and senior living industry. Mary has worked as an MDT Program Manager and Mental Health Specialist at Lutheran Community Services Northwest, where they provided outpatient therapy to older and vulnerable adult clients. Prior to that, they worked as a Crisis Respite Counselor at Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare.

Mary also has extensive experience in senior housing. Mary served as a Regional Director at Grayco LLC, where they were responsible for the operations and marketing of five assisted living and senior communities. Mary successfully developed and implemented marketing plans and demonstrated expertise in turnarounds, branding, regulatory compliance, and fiscal management.

Additionally, Mary held management positions at Paradigm Senior Living, Bowen Property Management, and The Boulder Meridian. At Paradigm Senior Living, they were the General Manager of St. Aidan's Place Alzheimer's Care, overseeing operations, marketing, and budgeting. At Bowen Property Management, they were the General Manager of Park Place Assisted Living, where they successfully achieved and maintained high occupancy rates. At The Boulder Meridian, they served as the General Manager of a retirement community, supervising various departments and implementing programs.

Mary Joy has a Master of Arts in Process Work from the Process Work Institute, which they obtained from 2011 to 2015. Their thesis focused on exploring the psychological effects of illness. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and French from the University of Colorado Boulder, where they studied from 1979 to 1981. Mary Joy also holds additional certifications, including being a QMHP from MACHBO, which they obtained in April 2019, and being a Licensed HeartMath Provider from the HeartMath Institute, which they obtained in April 2008.
