Sandy Spangler

Director Of Game Design & Development at Lumosity

Sandy Spangler has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. They began their career at Humongous Entertainment in 1994 as a Senior Artist/Animator, where they created art and animations for popular kids' adventure games. They also managed animation teams and contributed to game designs.

In 2004, Sandy worked as a Game Designer at Elixir Studios Ltd., developing game ideas and documentation for a Microsoft project targeting a more casual/female market.

From 2005 to 2008, Sandy joined Sony Computer Entertainment Europe as a Game Designer on the EyeToy team. They designed novel ways for players to interact with games using the EyeToy and Playstation Eye cameras. They also provided external design direction for third-party projects.

At A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games from 2009 to 2012, Sandy held the role of Studio Design Director. Their responsibilities included game design, concept development, client relationship building, and team management. They worked on projects such as Family Guy Online, Mech Warrior Tactics, Wipeout: The Game, and various mobile games.

From 2012 to 2016, Sandy worked as a Senior Game Designer at LeapFrog Enterprises, creating educational gaming experiences for LeapFrog platforms. They collaborated with educators to integrate curricular content into gameplay, featuring licensed properties and original LeapFrog IP.

At Anki from 2016 to 2018, Sandy served as a Lead Designer, contributing to the development of unique interactive experiences that merged robotics and human interaction. They worked on projects such as the Cozmo and Vector robots.

Finally, since 2018, Sandy has been employed at Lumos Labs (Lumosity). They held various roles such as Lead Game Designer, Senior Product Designer, and currently, Game Experience Design Manager. In their current role, they oversee all aspects of user experience, including content, gameplay, and product flow. They were also involved in the launch of the Figment by Lumosity app, which aims to inspire creativity through daily activities.
