Kate Gibson has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Kate has held various roles in different companies, primarily in the field of technical communication and documentation.

Kate currently works at Lucidum as the Director of Technical Communications, a position they have held since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at ScienceLogic from 2016 to 2022, starting as a Manager of Documentation and later as a Senior Manager of Documentation. During their time at ScienceLogic, Kate managed a team of writers, overseeing the production of documentation for multiple product lines. Kate implemented strategies to measure and prioritize documentation work, resulting in improved performance and a reduction in support cases. Kate also played a key role in cross-team projects and was responsible for building and maintaining the documentation website.

Before joining ScienceLogic, Kate worked at ScienceLogic, Inc. from 2004 to 2016, where they held the roles of Team Lead of Documentation and Senior Technical Writer. Kate worked as a Senior Technical Writer at Interliant from 2000 to 2002, where they primarily wrote internal documents for the software and operations groups.

Before that, Kate worked at POMS from 1992 to 2000 as a Technical Writer, where they wrote manuals and online help for software used in manufacturing plants. Kate also held the position of a Technical Writer at Stellar Computer/Stardent Computer from 1989 to 1992, where they wrote and edited manuals for graphics and visualization hardware and software.

Kate began their career at O'Reilly & Associates in 1988 as a Production Editor, proofreading and formatting technical manuals. Kate also performed editing work for contract clients. Their first professional role was as an Administrator at the Cell Physiology Lab, Harvard Medical School, from 1986 to 1988, where they wrote grants and edited scientific papers for publication.
