Capt. Ilja Calovs, AFNI, has extensive maritime experience, currently serving as Master at LSC since March 2012, where previous roles included Chief Officer and 2nd Officer, the latter as a Navigational Officer. Capt. Calovs has held a Certificate of Competency for Chief Mate on ships over 3000 GRT since November 2012. Additionally, Capt. Calovs has been a member of The Nautical Institute since February 2018. Earlier career experience includes roles as 3rd Officer at LSC, responsible for safety, and as an Ordinary Seaman and Deck Cadet. Education was attained at Latvian Maritime Academy, culminating in a Bachelor's degree from the Maritime faculty, following foundational schooling at Rigas 92. vidusskola, where a focus was on mathematics.
