Ian Korolkovas has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Ian is currently working at Loyalty NZ as a Principal Engineer, where they are leading the migration of legacy applications to cloud-native services and managing a team of software engineers. Prior to this, they worked at Xero as a Senior DevOps Engineer, focusing on improving infrastructure and code deployment automation. Ian also served as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Xero. Before joining Xero, Ian worked at click2giv, where they held multiple roles including Full Stack Software Developer, Network Operations Engineer, and Digital Product Engineering Manager. Ian successfully launched a platform system from scratch and managed freelancers overseas. Ian also has game development experience, having worked as a Game Developer and Senior Software Engineer at Redalgo SA. Ian has also co-founded a startup called imobo, where they were responsible for concept development, market research, raising capital, and managing the services and server architecture. Ian's early experience includes roles as a Software Consultant at XD Desenvolvimento de Software LTDA and a Research and Development Engineer at LARC-USP. In addition to their professional work, Ian has a background as a Rugby Player, achieving championship wins with the São Paulo Saracens Bandeirantes and playing for the Brazilian Rugby Union.
Ian Korolkovas obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from Centro Universitário do Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia in 2003. Ian then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from Escola Politécnica da USP, which they completed in 2007. In addition to their formal education, Ian also holds certifications such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate and AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services, obtained in 2019 and 2018 respectively. Ian has also completed the Catapult Leadership Programme from Catapult NZ - Leadership Performance, although the year of completion is not specified. Ian also obtained an Electronic Technician certificate from ETEC Jorge Street in 1996.
