Electa Brown is an accomplished television production professional and educator with extensive experience in directing and performance. Currently a Professor at Long Island University since January 2001, Electa teaches courses in TV Production and directing. As a member of the Directors Guild of America since May 1980, Electa has also served on the Eastern Directors Council. Notably, Electa directed "A Night of Jazz: Ron Carter and Friends," recorded live at Sweet Basil in Greenwich Village. A versatile freelance professional since 1972, Electa has worked with numerous New York City TV stations, participated in various sports productions, and contributed to major award shows such as the Tonys and Grammys. Electa holds a BFA in Film and Television Production from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
