Phil Laird is an experienced professional currently serving as the Federal Advocacy Coordinator at Lock the Gate since October 2022, focusing on advocacy for communities affected by coal and gas industries. Laird is also pursuing a Master of Data Analytics part-time at Queensland University of Technology while managing a farming property. Previous experience includes a role as the National Coordinator at Lock the Gate Alliance from July 2012 to June 2018, where responsibilities encompassed government relations, public speaking, and community advocacy. Laird has a diverse background in agriculture, including managing a cattle breeding and trading business in North West NSW, and extensive experience in IT consultancy for manufacturing and logistics from previous positions at QAD Australia and Mitsubishi Produce. Laird holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Computer Science from UNSW and is currently enrolled in a Master's program at QUT.
