Eugene Yi has a diverse work experience in various companies and organizations. In 2007, they started working at the United States Department of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense (Policy), where they served as the Country Director for China & Korea and later as a member of the Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities team. In 2009, they joined the U.S. Department of State, Embassy Beijing as a Political Officer. In 2013, they transitioned to Twitter as the Head of Asia Public Policy. From 2016 to 2018, they worked at Google as a Policy Fellow. In 2016, they also became a Visiting Researcher at the MIT Media Lab, a role they held until 2020. In the same year, they joined Hawkfish LLC as the Director of Product and later served as the National Digital Director for Mike Bloomberg's Presidential Campaign. In 2020, they joined Kuku Studios as the VP of Creative Development & Strategy. In 2022, they co-founded Loci and assumed the role of Co-founder & CEO. Eugene concurrently continues their work as a Visiting Researcher at the MIT Media Lab. Throughout their career, Eugene has also served as a Board Director and Co-founder & President at Cortico.
Eugene Yi has a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Oxford, where they specialized in the field of Oxford Internet Institute. Prior to that, they obtained a Master in Public Affairs degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University, where they studied in the School of Public and International Affairs.
