Stein Gunnar Bakkeby has had a diverse range of work experiences. Stein Gunnar started their career as a Private in the Norwegian military's electronic warfare company, where they were responsible for setting up and managing high-tech equipment, locating radio signals, interpreting Morse code, and providing general infantry service. After their military service, they worked as a Student Assistant at Tromsø University College, where they tutored students and corrected assignments in programming and IT modules.

Bakkeby then moved on to Empower Interactive, where they worked as a Software Developer. During their time there, they gained experience in the complete software development life cycle, using agile development and rapid prototyping. Stein Gunnar also took on the role of build manager, improving the build process and automating tasks, which increased the company's productivity.

Following Empower Interactive, Bakkeby joined OpenBet as a Senior Developer. Stein Gunnar worked on a betting platform that supported over a million users, gaining experience in the Linux environment and becoming proficient in the Tcl programming language. Stein Gunnar worked on numerous projects, liaised with customers to understand requirements, and mentored new starters. Stein Gunnar also gained extensive exposure to the Informix database and query optimization.

Most recently, Bakkeby worked at SG - Digital as a Senior Support Engineer. In this role, they worked under pressure to resolve time-critical issues and identified and resolved obscure bugs. Stein Gunnar investigated network, setup, and environment-specific issues and collaborated with customers and development teams to find overall solutions. Stein Gunnar also dealt with system and database performance issues, reviewed support issues and proposed fixes, mentored support analysts, and documented investigation strategies.

Overall, Bakkeby has a wide range of technical skills and experience in areas such as support engineering, software development, build management, and technical mentoring.

Stein Gunnar Bakkeby completed their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from UiT- The Arctic University of Norway, where they studied from 2000 to 2003. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Computer Science at Swansea University from 2003 to 2004.
