Iason Dimitrakopoulos

Senior Director Of Engineering at Light & Wonder

Iason Dimitrakopoulos has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Iason currently serves as the Senior Director of Engineering at Light & Wonder - iGaming since 2023. Prior to this, from 2020 to 2023, they worked as the Chief Technology Officer at insurancemarket.gr. During their tenure, they led the technology transformation of the organization, implemented a microservice architecture and data streaming technology, and reduced infrastructure costs by switching to the cloud. Iason also established a DevOps team and enabled automation in product delivery using No-Code tools.

From 2017 to 2019, Iason Dimitrakopoulos worked as the Director of Engineering at ENCODE, where they managed software product value streams and implemented a heavy DevOps transformation. Iason also implemented a "Work from Home" policy and mentored team managers.

Prior to this, from 2014 to 2017, they served as the Head of Web & Mobile Engineering at EXUS, where they revived and modernized the Web & Mobile part of the business. Iason also oversaw delivery management of projects in various industries and expanded the engineering team.

From 2008 to 2014, Iason Dimitrakopoulos worked at Velti in various roles, including Senior Technical Project Manager, Technical Leader, and Principal Software Engineer. Iason supervised projects involving the delivery of technology platforms to the mobile industry and directed product engineering teams to improve stability and performance.

Before that, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Vivodi Telecom, where they developed a service provisioning system. Iason also worked as a Software Engineer at Hellas On Line and Intracom Telecom.

Iason Dimitrakopoulos started their career as a Software Engineer at Bank of America, where they carried out various development projects using Visual Basic.

Iason Dimitrakopoulos completed their education in Information Technology. Iason obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Internet Engineering from the University of Essex, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Network Centred Computing from the University of Reading from 2002 to 2003.

In addition to their formal education, Iason has also obtained several certifications in various subjects. Some of these certifications include "Kanban Management Professional" and "Kanban Systems Improvement (KMP II)" from Kanban University in January 2021, "Inspiring and Motivating Individuals" from the University of Michigan in October 2020, and "Building Resilience," "Developing Resourcefulness," and "Executive Presence on Video Conference Calls" from LinkedIn in March 2020, among others.
