David Hay is an accomplished professional in the field of heritage and archives, currently serving as a Trustee and Board Member at The National Library of Wales since April 2021, ensuring the safeguarding of Wales' history and heritage. As a Trustee Director and Board Member for The Sainsbury Archive since September 2009, David promotes the public understanding of the history of Sainsbury’s and its founding family. Participation in the Digital Museum Steering Committee for Trent Park House from August 2022 to April 2024 highlights David's commitment to creative heritage projects. Prior roles include Head of Heritage & Archives at BT until February 2020, and assistant archivist positions at both Monmouthshire County Council and Lancashire County Council. David Hay holds a BA in Ancient & Mediaeval History from the University of Birmingham, an MSc in Records Management from Northumbria University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Archives Administration & Records Management from the University of Liverpool.
