Shayne Connell has extensive work experience in various roles related to suicide prevention, cancer support, and program management. They are currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of LivingWorks Australia since 2018. Prior to this role, they worked at LivingWorks as a Senior ASIST Training Coach, where they conducted numerous workshops and training programs related to suicide intervention. They also held the position of Regional Manager at Cancer Council NSW, overseeing offices, programs, and events in the Hunter Central Coast region. Additionally, Shayne served as a Councillor at the City of Newcastle and worked as a Program Coordinator at Lifeline Australia, coordinating the Life Matters Suicide Intervention Program. They also have experience as a Coordinator at Kaiyu Enterprises.
Shayne Connell pursued higher education at the University of Newcastle and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2001. In 2011, Shayne completed a Diploma in the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Following this, Shayne enrolled in the University of Newcastle again and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing and Communications in 2016.
In addition to these degrees, Shayne obtained several certifications. In 2007, Shayne completed a Diploma of Business Management at TAFE NSW. During the same year, Shayne also obtained a Justice of the Peace certification from the Attorney-General's Department and became a certified LivingWorks safeTALK Trainer through LivingWorks Australia. In 2004, Shayne achieved the certification of LivingWorks ASIST Trainer Coach from LivingWorks Australia. Additionally, Shayne has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the Power Institute, although the specific completion month and year are not stated.
