John McCarthy has worked in the IT field since 2012. John began their career as a System Administrator/Technical Support at OrthoBanc, LLC, where they implemented an Open-Source Puppet Master with the Foreman and Salt Stack to automate and manage Linux infrastructure. John also used Powershell and BASH scripting to automate Windows/Linux server, AD, and VMware infrastructure, and provided PBX and VOIP support for all users and devices. In 2014, they moved to the Tennessee Valley Authority as an IT Operations Engineer. Finally, in 2020, they joined Lirio as a Senior Cloud Engineer.

John McCarthy received a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Information Technology from Western Governors University from 2015 to 2018. John also obtained certifications from Microsoft, Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco, CompTIA, and the Linux Professional Institute. These certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (2020), Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer (2022), AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (2019), AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (2019), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (2020), Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA) (2018), Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA) (2018), Network+ (2015), Security+ (2016), A+ (2012), LPIC1: Linux Administrator, Linux+, and Project+.
