David Kallweit is a distinguished scientist at Liom since January 2023, focusing on technology scouting, feasibility analysis, optical simulations, and the development of a photonics engine for wearable devices. Previously, Kallweit served as the Lead Micro- and Nano-Optics at Liom, where responsibilities included the optical engine's development and large-scale fabrication. Prior experience includes a tenure as Senior Project Manager at CSEM SA, overseeing European H2020 projects, and managerial roles at the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems, where Kallweit developed innovative electrostatic actuation technology for micromirrors. Kallweit's academic background includes a PhD focused on micro-optics design at the University of Freiburg, where a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Microsystem Technology was obtained.
