Robert Niederriter has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Robert currently works as a Senior Optical Engineer at Limelight Steel since March 2023. Previously, they were an Optical Research Scientist at OptiPro Systems from October 2021, specializing in optical metrology at a sub-nanometer level. Before that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at UCLA from July 2016 to July 2021. Prior to their postdoctoral position, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where they worked on projects related to laser beam characterization and manipulation as well as mid-infrared laser sources. Robert also gained experience as a Student Tutor, Residence Life Advisor/Manager, and Student A/V Assistant at Lawrence University from September 2006 to June 2010. Additionally, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Heidelberg, specializing in plasma science and physical chemistry, respectively. Robert also worked as a Counselor and Activity Instructor at Camp Foley. Overall, Robert's work experience showcases their expertise in optical engineering, metrology, plasma physics, and research.

Robert Niederriter pursued their education in Physics, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lawrence University between 2006 and 2010. Robert later went on to obtain a PhD in Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder, completing their studies in the field from 2010 to 2016.
