Olivia Dippo has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Olivia is currently serving as the CEO & Co-Founder of Limelight Steel since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Activate Fellow at Activate, starting in June 2022. In this role, Olivia was involved in empowering scientists to launch startups addressing global challenges, particularly climate change.
Olivia's academic background includes being a PHD Student at the University of California, San Diego from September 2016 to December 2021. During their time at UC San Diego, they also participated in the Gordon Scholars Program at the Gordon Engineering Leadership Center, where they focused on developing leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Before their PhD and leadership program, Olivia gained research experience at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Olivia worked as a Graduate Research Assistant from May 2016 to September 2016, a Post-Baccalaureate Researcher from May 2015 to May 2016, and an Undergraduate Student Researcher from May 2014 to May 2015.
Prior to their involvement with Los Alamos, Olivia worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2013 to May 2015. Olivia also started their work experience as an Engineering Assistant at Marina Energy from May 2012 to January 2013.
Olivia Dippo pursued their education starting in 2011 at Carnegie Mellon University. From 2011 to 2015, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Materials Science and Engineering, with a second major in Biomedical Engineering. After that, they enrolled at UC San Diego in 2016 and pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Materials Science & Engineering. Olivia successfully completed their Ph.D. program in 2021.
