Russell Murphy has an extensive work experience in the field of communications and government affairs.
Russell started their career as a Legislative Intern at the New York City Council in 2012, where they gained valuable experience in legislative work.
In 2014, they worked as the Communications Director for Tom DiNapoli, before moving on to become the Deputy Chief of Staff for Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez at the New York City Council. In this role, they handled strategic communications and media relations, as well as worked on policy issues and collaborated with advocacy organizations.
In 2016, Russell took on the role of Campaign Manager for Carmen De La Rosa for NYS Assembly, successfully overseeing the daily operations of a campaign that unseated an incumbent. Russell also served as a Communications Consultant for Espaillat for Congress during the same year.
From 2015 to 2017, Russell worked for the New York City Council as the Chief of Staff for Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez. Russell later transitioned to the role of Vice President at Risa Heller Communications in 2017, where they continued to expand their expertise in corporate communications.

Russell later took on broader roles within the company, including Communications Lead for North America, UK, and ANZ, and ultimately became the Senior Manager for Corporate Communications. In 2022, they were promoted to the position of Global Communications Director at Lime.

Russell Murphy completed their education with a high school diploma from The Beacon School, where they pursued a field of study in General Studies from 2004 to 2007. Following this, they enrolled at SUNY New Paltz from 2007 to 2011 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History and Black Studies.
