Rafał Mszal has a diverse work experience in the field of embedded software engineering. Rafał started their career as an intern at ATI Integrated Solutions in 2013. In 2014, they worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at PXM, where they focused on extending the functionality of LED drivers with DMX/RDM protocol.
From 2016 to 2019, Rafał took on the role of CTO and co-founder at Shape.Care, where they worked on wearable solutions for personal training support. This included designing and assembling PCB prototypes and developing firmware for nRF52-based BLE communication.
In 2016, Rafał joined Nordic Semiconductor ASA as a Firmware Engineer, where they worked on developing wireless communication protocols firmware for Nordic nRF5x chips. Rafał also contributed to Continuous Integration internal tools and provided customer support for proprietary protocols.
From 2018 to 2020, Rafał served as an Embedded Systems Specialist at CEZAMAT, focusing on research and development in the area of wireless protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy and 802. 15. 4.
Rafał then joined Uber as a Senior Firmware Engineer and Firmware Lead for JUMP eScooters from 2018 to 2020. Rafał was responsible for firmware development and leadership in the JUMP eScooters project.
In 2020, Rafał joined TIER Mobility as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, where they worked on designing and developing a new generation of light electric vehicles and platform IoT units. Rafał utilized skills in C, C++, Python, Buildroot, Embedded Linux, U-Boot, and modem connectivity.
After that, Rafał worked at ŌURA as an Algorithm SW Engineer (External Consultant) from 2021 to 2022, followed by their current role as a Staff Embedded Software Engineer at Lime.
Rafał Mszal completed their education in a chronological order. From 2016 to 2017, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Electronics and Telecommunication - Embedded Systems at AGH University of Krakow. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from the same university between 2012 and 2016. Additionally, from 2010 to 2014, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Automatic Control and Robotics, also from AGH University of Krakow. Furthermore, in June 2013, Rafał Mszal obtained the Polish Association of Electrical Engineers (SEP) Electrician Certificate (voltage up to 1kV).
