Elman Chao has a diverse range of work experience in various companies and roles. In 2013 and 2014, Chao worked as a Technical Intern and Technical Team Intern at the University of Waterloo Alternative Fuels Team. In 2015, Chao had internships as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Hatch and as a Product and System Design Intern at Dana Holding Corporation. In 2016, Chao interned as a Hardware Development Test and Analysis Intern at Tesla. Chao continued their internship journey in 2017 at CAE as a Software Engineer Intern. In 2018, Chao worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Tesla. In 2019, Chao had two internships, one at Verizon Media as a Software Engineer Intern and another at Lime as a Software Engineering Intern. Finally, in 2020, Chao joined Lime as a Senior Software Engineer where they are currently employed.

Elman Chao began their education journey in 2012 at the University of Waterloo, where they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Mechanical Engineering. Elman completed this program in 2016.

In the same year, Elman enrolled at the University of Waterloo again, this time targeting a Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) in Computer Science. Elman successfully completed this degree in 2020.

Furthermore, in June 2019, Elman Chao obtained a certification as a Triplebyte certified Generalist Software Engineer from Triplebyte.
