Luis Velez is a legal professional with extensive experience in the renewable energy sector. Currently serving as the Vice President and Associate US General Counsel at Lightsource bp since July 2019, Velez has held various prominent legal positions including Senior Engineering Procurement and Construction Counsel at Cypress Creek Renewables from May 2016 to July 2019, and Associate General Counsel for Solar Project Development at SunEdison from January 2015 to May 2016. Velez’s legal career began at Morrison & Foerster LLP and expanded through roles at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati and Finck & Dadras, among others. Velez earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Columbia Law School and a BA in German Studies from Amherst College.
