Tina Hernandez is an accomplished educational leader with extensive experience in equity-centered approaches to learning. Currently serving as Chief Academic Officer at Lighthouse Community Public Schools since June 2014, Tina designs systems to empower academically proficient Black and Latinx students in East Oakland. Previous roles include K-8 Equity-Centered School Leader at Lighthouse, K-5 Founding Principal at Aspire College Academy, and Resident Principal at Berkley Maynard Academy, where Tina supported teachers in delivering rigorous instruction and improved student achievement. Additionally, Tina's background includes teaching English at Chabot College and serving as an Educational Equity Consultant with California Tomorrow. Tina holds a Master's degree in English with an emphasis on African-American History and Literature from California State University - East Bay.
