Paul Karzel has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Paul currently serves as the Head of External Partnerships and Geschäftsführer Berlin Office at LIFTE H2 since May 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Shell for over a decade. Their roles at Shell include being the OEM Interface Manager for Hydrogen from June 2019 to May 2021, Hydrogen Operations Project Manager EU from October 2015 to June 2019, Service Engineer Gasification from April 2015 to October 2015, Turnaround Execution Engineer from January 2015 to April 2015, Gasification Engineer from June 2013 to January 2015, Unit Technologist of a Demonstrator POX Unit from August 2012 to June 2013, E&D Engineer from August 2011 to August 2012, and Engineer from February 2010 to August 2011. Paul also had internship experiences at EVO-Electric Ltd and Shell Global Solutions in 2008. Additionally, they were a student at Imperial College London from 2005 to 2009 and worked as an Attribute Manager at Imperial Racing Green from October 2007 to June 2008.

Paul Karzel pursued their education in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Maschinenbau. Paul completed their MEng degree at Imperial College London from 2005 to 2009. As part of their academic journey, they also embarked on an Erasmus exchange program at RWTH Aachen University in 2008-2009. Prior to their higher education, Paul Karzel attended Altes Gymnasium Bremen, although the specific degree and field of study during this time are unknown.
