Torge Mecker is a software engineer at Lifeware AG since November 2020, focusing on innovative software solutions for the life insurance industry utilizing object-oriented Smalltalk. Torge completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh from September 2015 to May 2020, researching hybrid rotational femtosecond/picosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy for nitrogen thermometry at high pressures and temperatures. Previous experience includes a year as a visiting researcher at Sandia National Laboratories in 2017-2018 and a year-long internship as an analytical chemist at Cytec Solvay Group in 2014-2015. Torge has also served as a resident assistant at the University of Edinburgh from 2015 to 2019, supporting student well-being and fostering community engagement. Educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering and a Master's degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Edinburgh, along with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and IGCSE from British International School Bratislava.
