Ingrid Knarston, PhD, has a varied work experience, beginning with a Science Mentor position at the Gene Technology Access Centre in 2015. Ingrid then held a Research Assistant position at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute from 2015-2019, where they completed their PhD in Human Genetics with a thesis titled "Differences of Sex Development: Gene Discovery and Functional Analysis Informing Diagnosis". In 2017, they took on a Tissue Bank Scientist position at The Royal Children's Hospital and a Research Intern position at Science Gallery Melbourne. From 2013-2015, they were a Summer Research Intern and completed an Honours Research Project at the University of Otago, supported by University of Otago Scholarships. In 2020, they joined Nature Research (Publishing) as an Associate Editor (Genomics and Bioinformatics). Most recently, in 2021, they became the Strategic Content Lead at Lifebit.

Ingrid Knarston, PhD has a strong educational background. In 2011, they obtained a Bachelor of Science Honours (First Class) from the University of Otago in the field of Genetics. In 2015, they went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Human/Medical Genetics at the University of Melbourne, which they completed in 2019. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in AWS Partner: Accreditation (Technical) in October 2022, and from APMG International in APMP® Bid and Proposal Management Foundation 2022 in February 2022.
