Tom Bates has a wide range of work experience in the financial services industry. Tom most recently held the position of Risk Director at Level since July 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Underwriter from January 2021 to July 2022 and an Underwriter from June 2020 to January 2021 at the same company. Before joining Level, Tom worked at Masthaven Bank as a Senior Assistant Underwriter from September 2018 to June 2020. Tom also served as an Underwriting Manager at NOVITAS LOANS LIMITED from July 2017 to June 2018 and as a Loan Management Assistant from May 2016 to August 2017. Additionally, Tom has experience in customer care as a proactive customer care representative at Swatch Group from November 2015 to May 2016. Tom began their career as a Compliance Audit Consultant at Huntswood from July 2011 to June 2015 and as an Administrative Assistant at Source Insurance Ltd from March 2011 to June 2011.

Tom Bates attended Ivybridge Community College from 2000 to 2007. Tom then attended Aberystwyth University from 2007 to 2010, where they earned a degree in English Literature.
