Ed Schmidt is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in project management and scientific research, specifically in the fields of antiviral drug and vaccine development. Currently serving as a Senior Project Manager at Leiden University Medical Center since 2020, Ed manages international collaborations, notably the EU-funded SCORE consortium focused on COVID-19 antiviral drug development. Prior roles include Senior Project Universal Influenza Development Manager at the University of Groningen and Senior Project Manager for vaccine initiatives at UMCG and the Dutch Vaccine Institute. Ed's earlier experience includes supervision of projects at Genetwister Technologies B.V. and research roles at academic institutions, including a position as Assistant Professor at Free University Amsterdam. Ed holds an MD in Endocrinology and Embryology from Academic Medical Center Amsterdam and a Master's degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from Utrecht University.
